It's warm
Its been a stable 75-80ºf around here lately. Its 10pm now and its 81º! I just got back from a quick jog by myself. Heather and I have been running every other day (schedule permitting). She's out of town for a funeral back home so I went by myself tonight. Last weekend I bought a Nike+ SportBand and hacked my non Nike+ compatible shoes to work with the pedometer. Worked fine I think!
We haven't set a regular routine for running, but like I said, we're aiming for every other day. However, on Mondays I ride 20 miles (19.8miles in reality I think) with a small group of riders after work. This week I set my best time for the ride for this year! Approximately 56 minutes! Thats without cutting most red lights and stop signs (I don't cut unless I know its absolutely clear).
Running with Heather is really fun and relaxing for me because I get to pretend I'm a coach. I'm in better shape than she is, and she wants to be in better shape, and has been in better shape. She is driven but has been a smoker for years and has sports induced Asthma. She even had a small attack on a run a couple weeks ago. However, she's making noticeable improvement and I pay more attention to her audible breathing while we run to make sure she doesn't over-do it.
Chicago is still a tough city for me. It feels like the summer is already starting to come to an end, even though its got a couple more months of warm night-time weather. Maybe it is because I know winter is coming, and winter here is real, not like in California. I need two jobs, one here in the spring and summer and one back home in winter so I can alternate.
I also want to get a cat. I also want to get a mountain bike. And another road bike. And a car... The mountain bike is more likely, and actually rational. Since a bike is my main transportation, having something with knobby tires to get through the snow will make life a bit more bearable for me. But my bills and surprise purchases always get the bulk of my paychecks.
I had the best chicken sandwich of my life last week. And then Heather and I got in a huge huge fight. But that came and went. Can't hold on to either (the positive and the negative, not 'let go of heather'), just have to let them go.
